Crab claw island
We arrived at crab claw island on the 7th of July.
Crab claw is not an island as such as it is physically connected to the mainland , however with its beautiful sandy beaches and turquoise waters , you could easily beleive that you are in Tahiti, Fiji or one of the Queensland islands resorts.
However Sadly the waters are off limits for swimmers , as the local salt water crocodile population do not really like sharing.
Its a long dusty , bumpy 15m drive into crab claw, but it was well worth it.
As we plugged Ruby in we found
Not one but two of these guys in the power box. They did not move at all the whole time we were there. We double checked they were breathing, just not inclined to move.
As we were sitting outside relaxing on the first afternoon
This guy came wandering past , then he preceded to dig a bit of a hole in the dirt and settle in to keep an eye on us. Not long after we heard a screech , then our peacock screeched it appears his girlfriends were looking for him. Soon we had the two females wandering around the campsite as well.
He thought he might put on a little dance for them , but they didn’t see all that impressed to be honest.
This guy dropped in a bit later ,also hung around for a bit, obviously we were the new novelty in town.
Crab claw is mainly a fisherman’s paradise , with a boat ramp located close by and boats available for hire ,there was a constant stream of movement on the water. Gadget did have one go at fishing , in the early morning when the tide was up , unfortunately tangling his lines in a mangrove tree pretty quickly, and nothing jumped on his line. The only thing bitting were the midges.
However the resort also provides quiet few options for accomodation, and a pretty nice restaurant with an amazing view of Bynoe Harbour.
So what did we do here for 3 days ?
We watched sunsets , had a beer or two , i read my book , knitted ,did some blogging , gadget caught up on some work stuff, but truely
We did a lot of nothing, this is where we started to really slowdown. We had been setting a cracking pace and it was time to rest. So rest we did
Until the next Blog
