The great adventure begins….. celebrating Mr and Mrs Madden

Our  great escape began on Friday,

In an amazing consequence  our journey will be bookmarked at the begging and end by a

celebration of Love.

Reggie and Ruby headed north to the cute little town of dungog

Dungog has always been a special place to me

My sister was born in Dungog

When i became a young adult and and discovered the freedom of having my own transport

It was a favourite destination, yep fuel was a lot cheaper in those days.

And in  more recent years i have spent many wonderful crafty weekends in Dungog,

We set Reggie and Ruby (R&R) up at the local showground.

We then did the relatively  short walk to the Main Street.

After having a little wander around and chatting with the friendly shop owners we found ourselves enjoying an ale or two at the tin shed brewery, lovely friendly staff, and we both enjoyed our beverages.

We ended our evening at the Settler Arms  hotel

joining the future Mr and Mrs Madden and their bridal party for their last meal as a single couple.

The settlers arms was first established in 1848, it was moved from its previous location in Dowling street to its current location in 1853. The building is made from convict made bricks. In 1901 the settlers arms was renamed the courthouse hotel and remained so until 2005 when it once again became the settlers arms.

The following morning we had a short 40min drive to Underbank where the wedding celebrations would take place. By the time we arrived R&R were no longer looking very clean.

I won’t post any photos on here of the stunning bride and groom,

as they have requested that no one posts images on social media

But also because we were very much in the moment and didn't take a lot of photos.

Which is exactly how it should be. A great time was had by all with lovely food and good music.

with the continuing rain throughout the afternoon

we were both a bit concerned about the challenge of getting back to the bitumen road.

But R&R tackled it with no problems and the serious driving has begun.

Until the next blog

Stay safe and happy travels
