Eucla, Norseman, Salmon Gums
We left Eucla on Thursday morning and crossed the remainder of the Nullabour.
I had my first drive of the trip
yep
90 miles of dead straight road.
Not sure whether my skills were in question or Mr TK was just bored 😴
The plan was to stop for the night at Balladonia, but we arrived at 1pm and thought, let’s keep going.
We arrived at Norseman Western Australia (WA) mid afternoon, and settled in for the night.
Norseman is located in Goldfields - Esperance region of WA.
The town actually takes its name from a Horse. Legend has it that around 1894 “Norseman” (the horse) scrapped the ground with its hoof and unearthed the first gold nugget in the area. It was a cute little town and they had their local market on , the morning we were there.
We moved on to Salmon Gums the next morning.
Salon gums in a very small village located about 106 kilometres from Esperance, it was a very short hop from Norseman to Salmon Gums , but we were glad we stoppped. We spent a lovely quiet afternoon resting and a wonderful evening in the local pub , chatting with the owners and some other travellers.
Salmon Gums was named , due to the Eucalyptus salmonophloia (not pictured above ) trees which are dominant in the local area. We stayed at a little council run caravan park , which was pretty reasonably priced, a short walk to town and had nice clean facilities.
Until the next blog
